Transiting Australia

This message is to convey the latest advice from Australian Border Force that foreign nationals transiting through Australia no longer require an individual exemption from the Australian Border Force Commissioner. They are automatically exempt (and don’t need to request an exemption) if the transit period in Australia is 72 hours or less. Further information can be found at https://covid19.homeaffairs.gov.au/transiting-australia.

For transits less than 8 hours:

·         those who are not from an eligible country to transit without a visa require a transit visa (or another valid Australian visa)

·         all travellers must have evidence of their onward flight

For transits 8-72 hours:

·         all travellers require a transit visa

·         all travellers must have evidence of their onward flight

·         travellers should check state/territory health requirements –

o   NSW: Health exemption

o   QLD: international transiting passengers no longer require a QLD entry pass. If a border declaration is required it will be processed at the airport

o   VIC: to be advised when incoming passenger flights resume
